A sprightly scout has his gualama mount spooked by an ambushing Qom Jha (or is this a Qom Qae?) outside of the tower base on Nirauan.
The subject of Thrawn's Household Phalanx has been dancing around in my head for some time, and this little scene was sketched out roughly in between some other pieces I'm working on. I like these randy guys and plan to design them out a little more fully in the future.
I sometimes find the Star Wars universe...a little rough. All the men (in "official" artwork found on Wookiepedia) are rough, blocky, and frankly, ugly. While reading Timothy Zahn's novels, I imagined everyone as smokingly hot bishounen, with Nirauan being Voss Parck's personal cathouse, filled with elegant cerulean men who spend their day seducing each other, taking leisurely rides through the jungles, painting, and ending the evenings with crazy parties that involve delicate sparkling drinks and electric violins.
This was sketched out on Borden and Riley Paris paper, inked with a fountain School G pen, and colored with Copic markers. A few proportional issues, but I cranked this out rather quickly.
